Stairmate™ is a temporary ground to first floor access system designed to replace the current common practice of access by ladder. Though standard on most construction sites, ladders have proven to be unsuitable and unsafe for personnel access and for transporting tools and materials floor-to-floor.

The Stairmate™ system has specially designed modular components that interlock to form a temporary stairway. Each stairwell on site is assessed during project planning and the compatible Stairmate™ components are delivered and positioned by trained and accredited installers, ie. Stair flights and platform lengths and heights are custom fit to the stair opening. Once Stairmate™ is installed, handrails can then be fitted to the system using FALLSTOP® fall prevention components, or Voidmate, FALLSTOP’s new void platform system can be installed over the top of the stairs.

Not only does this innovative method of access allow the principle contractor to comply with OH&S regulations, but workers are able to carry themselves and their equipment to their elevated work area free from the risk of falling from unsuitable and unsafe ladders. These advantages apply to all trades – carpenters, electricians, plumbers, plasterers, joiners, floor and wall tillers – and also to home owners, architects, engineers, council personnel and internal finish consultants. Moreover, Stairmate™ is unlike any other system in that it is freestanding from walls and other fixtures, allowing trades such as plasterers and painters to work on the wall while the system is in place.

The time (and thus cost!) savings associated with simple access for all trades, easy transportation of tools and materials, and unobstructed work access to stairwell walls on site each day far exceeds the low cost investment in the Stairmate™ system.
